Mission Statement

Athletic Training, recently recognized as an Allied Health Profession, involves the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by athletes and physically active individuals. Athletic Trainers must meet stringent academic requirements, clinical experience requirements, and successfully complete a rigorous certification examination in order to perform duties specific to the profession of Athletic Training.

The objective of the Athletic Training Program at Dominican College is to educate prospective students in the field of Athletic Training. This program’s primary career-related objective is to qualify students for roles as entry–level Certified Athletic Trainers in scholastic, intercollegiate, and professional sports environments, as well as, other organizational settings with managed care and industrial health care programs. Educational objectives are geared toward assisting the development and advancement of the students toward achieving and obtaining their professional goals while also attempting to enhance the positive role model atmosphere. Simultaneously, the design of the program is in keeping with the College’s established mission and educational objectives, particularly its traditional emphasis on the value of broad based liberal arts requirements and its “promotion of educational excellence, leadership, and service in an environment characterized by respect for the individual and concern for the community.”
