Meet the Student Development Team

  John Burke, a 1994 graduate of Dominican College, with a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology was appointed Vice President for Student Development in the fall of 2009. Prior to his current role, he served as Associate Director of Athletics and Compliance Officer and had a very successful career at the helm of the Lady Chargers women’s basketball program for nine years. 

John Burke was named as one of Rockland County’s 40 under 40 in 2002 and is an Alumnus of the Leadership Rockland program, Class of 2011. He was awarded the All-Met Division II Coach of the Year in 2007-2008 and the Steve Baxter Service Award in 2010. 

Dean Burke lives with his wife Tara, son Ryan and their dog Boomer in Pearl River, NY.

  Rachel joined the Dean’s Office in Student Development in 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in German Language and Literature and earned a Master of Education in Student Affairs Administration in 2005, both from the University at Buffalo.

Prior to coming to Dominican College, Rachel served as the Director of Student Activities and  Orientation at SUNY Maritime College from 2005 – 2010 and in the spring of 2008 she circumnavigated the globe visiting 12 countries as a Residence Director on Semester at Sea. She was recently recognized with Rockland County’s 40 Under 40 award and is a participant of the Leadership Rockland program. 

She lives in Rockland County with her husband David, son Samuel and their dog Drexel.

  Margaret returned to Dominican College in August 2013 as the Executive Assistant in the Student Development Office. A Dominican College alumna, she received a BS in Marketing Management in 1988 and then went on to receive an MS in Elementary Education from Long Island University. She has held various positions in both the business and education fields, most recently as a substitute teacher for several local school districts.

Margaret resides in Pearl River with her husband Kevin and their four children.

  Christine has been at Dominican College since 2010, first as an Assistant Director in Residence Life, and now as the Director of Community Engagement and Leadership Development.

She has a BA in psychology from Villanova University, and an MS in counseling from Loyola University Maryland. Her office is located in Casey Hall. Contact her to get involved in campus leadership and volunteerism! 

 



Katrina Redmond

Katrina Redmond joined the Dominican College community as the Director of Student Activities in January of 2012. She graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts.

Katrina understands the importance of campus involvement. Her own experiences in student activities led her to her career in higher education. After graduation, Katrina worked at her alma mater for over three years, first in the Advancement office and then in Student Affairs. 

Originally from Woodside, Queens, Katrina now lives in Pearl River with her husband and their puppy, Matilda.

  Alise Cohen, LCSW, BCD, is the Director of Counseling at Dominican College and has been a part of the College community for the past 20 years.

She holds a master’s degree from New York University and has eight years of advanced post graduate clinical training in psychoanalytic studies. 

Eileen A. Piccininni, Prevention and Education Coordinator

  Eileen A. Piccininni, MA, LPC, CASAC, CEAP, has been the Prevention and Education Coordinator at Dominican College for eight years. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from NYU.

Prior to coming to the College, Eileen spent 20 years working for Employee Assistance Programs, providing individual counseling and crisis intervention for aviation and mass casualty disasters.

  Lynda Chesterman, RN, BSN, MA, ANP-BC, has over 27 years of nursing experience in college health, occupational health, women’s health and critical care. She served as the Staff Nurse Practitioner from 2001-2008 in the Dominican College Student Health Center and took over in 2008 as the Director.

Board Certified by the ANCCC, Lynda received a BS in Nursing from Pace University and an MA – Adult Nurse Practitioner from New York University. She is a member of both the NPA – New York State Nurse Practitioner Association and the ACHA – American College Health Association.

In addition to her role as the Health Center Director, she has taught as an adjunct Faculty member and is currently a Clinical Preceptor in the Division of Nursing -Undergraduate and Graduate Programs. Her professional interests also include wellness and health promotion.

  Evelyn Fiskaa, the Director of Career Development, has been with the College since 2010. She has worked in Career Development for 15 years serving diverse populations. She is dedicated to the students and provides career counseling and advisement, resume writing assistance, interviewing skills development, job search strategies, internship coordination and graduate school guidance. She earned a Master of Science in Applied Counseling from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from the College of Staten Island.  

Michael Rogan, Facilities Manager, Hennessey and Granito Centers

  Mike Rogan is in his 16th year serving as the Facility Manager for the Hennessy Center and Granito Center at Dominican College. Mike joined the staff in 1998, after five years at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn serving in a similar position in the Athletic Department.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications which he earned in 1987. He went on to get a master’s degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in Alabama in 1992.

Mike resides on Long Island in Lynbrook, New York with his wife Amy and their two sons, Connor and Brady.

Richard Manu, Assistant Director of Residence Life, Rosary Hall

  Born and raised in New York, Rich moved to Rockland County and joined the Dominican College Residence Life staff as an Assistant Director of Residence Life in Hertel Hall overseeing Student Conduct in February 2010.

He holds a BA in Psychology and an MS in Educational Administration and Leadership from the University at Albany. Rich began his Residential Life experience in 2002 as a Residence Hall Director at the University at Albany, shortly after receiving his Master’s degree. He spent the next few years, growing personally and professionally, while serving as Senior Residence Director and Director of Summer Conference Housing at the University at Albany.

Before arriving at Dominican College, Rich lived in Massachusetts and worked as an Assistant Director of Residence Life at Bentley University. Rich is currently the Assistant Director of Rosary Hall and he enjoys reading, watching and playing various sports, and is a huge movie fan.

  Melissa Leigh Tetler is the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Housing and Operations. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Mount Saint Mary College.

Melissa is involved on many committees on campus including the sustainability committee, Senior Year Experience Committee, Operations Committee as well as advising GLAM*R, the campus Gay Straight Alliance. Melissa also sits on the board of Penguin Repertory Theatre, a non-profit organization in Rockland County.

  Kathie Boylan joined the Residence Life Staff in 2007 after holding several management positions at local Bergen County non-profits. Her responsibilities in Residence Life have allowed her to participate in the new challenges facing the office with the addition of new residence halls, growth and development of new professional staff, and of course -- the enthusiastic resident students. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ramapo College and a Masters of Science in counseling. In addition, she is a freelance dance professional; teaching, coaching choreographing, performing and creating special programs and classes.
