CH 331-332 Organic Chemistry I, II (4, 4)

This two-semester sequence is a systematic study of the fundamental principles of organic chemistry. Topics include the representative carbon compounds, functional groups, nomenclature, and stereochemistry: reaction mechanisms and synthesis of organic molecules; infrared and NMR spectroscopy; and the structures of the major biomolecules. (Three-hour lecture, three-hour lab.)

Prerequisites: for CH 331 is CH 222S (with grades of C- or higher). Prerequisite for CH 332 is completion of CH 331 with a grade of C or higher.
