Dominican College signs articultion agreement with SUNY Rockland Community College

: On June 7, 2008, Dominican College baseball player Tommy Mejia signed a contract as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs. Mr. Mejia is the 26th baseball player from Dominican to sign a professional contract.

: The wet weather on Sunday, May 18th could not dampen the celebration and elation at Dominican College’s 54th commencement.
The 29th Annual Dominican College Benefit Golf Classic a warmly received success
: It took over 200 bottles Gatorade, but even the 100 degree temperatures could not deter this committed group of 112 golfers from finishing the historic Minisceongo course. The classic was held Monday, June 9, 2008, and was enjoyed by the large and hearty crowd.

Dominican College senior Brian Mackey wins NCAA Division II men's golf super regional
: On May 7, 2008, Dominican senior Brian Mackey took first place in the NCAA Division II men's East/Northeast super regional played in Delaware. Mackey finished at 9 over par in the third round of play bringing his overall score to a 222.

County Executives speak about the state of the region and issues of government in Rockland, Westchester, Orange and Suffolk Counties
: On June 11, 2008, The Palisades Institute of Dominican College hosted the fourth annual County Executives Forum. The Honorable C. Scott Vanderhoef, Rockland County Executive, was joined by The Honorable Edward Diana, Orange County Executive, The Honorable Steve Levy, Suffolk County Executive, and The Honorable Andrew J. Spano, Westchester County Executive.
Going Green is Big Business
: On May 2, The Palisades Institute of Dominican College presented Peter Davoren, President and Chief Executive Officer of Turner Construction Company. Mr. Davoren discussed the impact of “green building practices” not only on the construction industry, but on the environment.
Dominican College students to participate in Catholic Relief Services HIV Action Team
: Blair Holz-Larsen and Zureai Goodwin, Dominican College freshmen, have been selected to participate in the Catholic Relief Services College Leaders Action Team. They will attend a week long training in Atlanta, Georgia to learn about HIV and the Church's response to the disease.

Homeless Village on Dominican Campus
: Dominican College students slept in boxes to raise awareness about the homeless community. The idea of a box city was first introduced on the campus of Dominican College last year during a Rotaract meeting. The plan for this awareness/fundraising event took shape over the past year and came to fruition on Thursday night, April 17.
A different kind of spring break
: Over spring break 2008, fourteen Dominican College students, four administrators, one alumna, and one faculty member spent their Spring Break with volunteers from all over the world. Their goal: to help rebuild the lives, homes, and communities which were devastated by Hurricane Katrina two and a half years ago.
Dominican College Baseball presents Memorabilia Night
: Wednesday, April 23 from 7:00pm to 9:00 the Dominican College Baseball Team will host a sports memorabilia night. The event will be held at the Hennessy Center on Western Highway in Orangeburg and is sponsored by Grandstand Sports and Memorabilia.

: On May 18, Dr. Lauro F. Cavazos, former U.S. Secretary of Education, will deliver the baccalaureate address at Dominican College’s 54th commencement ceremony. The academic procession will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the College’s Hennessy Center on Western Highway in Orangeburg.

Ambassador Donald McHenry to speak as part of the President's Lecture Series
: On April 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fury Lecture Hall of the Prusmack Center, Dominican College will host a conversation with Donald McHenry, Ambassador and U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations from September 1979 to January 1981. Mr. McHenry has also served as a member of President Carter's cabinet and as Ambassador and U.S. Deputy Representative to the U.N. Security Council.

Dominican College signs comprehensive articulation agreement with Maria College
: Dominican College of Blauvelt and Maria College of Albany have signed an articulation agreement that allows students who graduate from Maria College with an associate’s degree in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program to transfer credits toward the BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy at Dominican. Transferring students will begin at Dominican College with junior status and will be able to complete their degree studies through Dominican’s Weekend College format.
Dominican Students travel to the Dominican Republic on twice yearly service mission
: In January, volunteers from Dominican College, Ramapo College and St. Thomas Aquinas College travelled to the remote hamlet of La Cuchilla in the mountains of the Dominican Republic to participate in the twice yearly Bridges community service project led by Father Ron Stanley, Campus Chaplain at Dominican.
