Earthquake in Haiti

In response to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti, Dominican College has set up the Dominican College Haitian Fund.

Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, does not have the resources to effectively address the unimaginable damage it has suffered. Organizations that have been working in Haiti since before the quake are saying that at this point the most good can be done by sharing fiscal resources to address search and rescue, medical, and infrastructure issues. These organizations already have the structures in place to purchase and airlift or ship supplies directly to Haiti. They also already have personnel on the ground in Port au Prince to expedite and oversee the dissemination of those supplies and funds.

Donations will be needed now and over the next several months, as the Haitian people deal with the aftermath. Any donation you wish to make will be collected by Eileen Doyle in Cooke Hall.  The College is setting up a committee to arrange for the distribution of the donations.  Student clubs that are interested in participating should contact Bonni Raab, Director of Social Work at 848-4076.
