| The Student Activities Office is concerned with the student as a whole person and recognizes that the student has needs outside the classroom. All students, residents and commuters, are encouraged to join at least one of the several clubs and organizations active on campus. The interactions and events provided complement the student’s academic course work and are an integral part of the college experience. The Student Activities Office provides opportunities for leadership training and development twice a year, as well as throughout the year when needed. Some of the topics covered include communication skills, motivating yourself and others, time management skills, team building skills, leadership styles, programming and publicity, and many more. Each year the Student Government Association, in conjunction with the Office of Student Development, recognizes outstanding and significant student contributions to student life and to the College at the Student Leadership Awards.
Many opportunities for community service are also available throughout the year. For example, students have participated in food, coat, and toy drives, Midnight Runs, where students pack food and deliver the food, blankets, and coats to the homeless in the city, walk-a-thons, and visits to nursing homes and after school programs.
