On March 23, Dominican College and Readers Digest Partners for Sight Foundation will present a one day, hands-on workshop for teachers on how assistive reading tools help students with print disabilities. Teachers will learn how to access and integrate accessible instructional materials into the classroom for qualified students; how to equalize education for students with print disabilities; how to improve student outcomes through technology; how to empower students with books and technology; and how to increase independence.
Karen B. Narvol, Instructional Technology Consultant for the PA Department of Education; Bookshare; Cambium Learning Technologies; and local school districts will present.
At the completion of the Bookshare workshop, participants will have increased knowledge of:
- applicable federal and state laws
- diversity and special needs of student populations
- collaboration with students
- increasing and maintaining parent involvement
- integration of technology into educational practice
- diagnosing and removing obstacles to student achievement
- instructional techniques
Participants may earn up to 7 ACVREP hours and/or 7 CE Hours.
